AP 2-D Art and Design has no written exam. Assessment is entirely portfolio-based.
Sustained Investigation — 15 works
A series of works demonstrating an inquiry-driven investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision. Students submit 15 digital images with written evidence explaining their inquiry and process.
Selected Works — 5 works
Five works selected from the Sustained Investigation or created independently, demonstrating the student's strongest skills. Physical works are mailed to College Board; digital images submitted online.
